Tell us, Miss Celestia, about why you chose 'celcat' as the name for your website.

it's... it's honestly quite silly. but if you must insist: back when i still used to be an active and contributing member of the DuckTales fandom on Wattpad, i used to go by Celestia Primrose. it's a pseudonym that i use just as interchangeably as my real name, Tia C███████████, and i have grown quite fond of it. sue me for being childish, i guess. i'd grown tired of being called "Celestia" at some point and that, coupled with my frenzied obsession with Cat Noir (from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir) and all things feline, blossomed into a new nickname, 'Celescatia Purrimrose'.
of course, 'Celescatia' doesn't nearly flow as well as 'Celestia' does and i soon abandoned adopting that as my new psudonym.
over the years, i've had more than a dozen pseudonyms (some of them more permanent than others), but Celestia is the one that is the oldest. i'm not going to lie and say that Celestia is the most "authentic" presentation of myself online, because she's not. she is a sanitized, toned-down picture-perfect avatar and represents the most part of me that i am willing to give up to the general public. that being said, i think it's fitting that a name my twelve-year-old self came up with still lives on through this website. what better way to represent the best of me than the way my younger self saw herself? i think she'd be proud to see Celestia as she exists now.

sorry! i get really carried away at times!! anyhoo, i would have gone with just Celestia as the name for this website but it isn't unique enough. plenty of people out there name themselves Celestia (though not one except for me has the surname 'Primrose' to go along with it!) but not plenty of people out there would name themselves Celescatia. it's quite cringe. and while i love birds to the point where i'd die for a sparrow now, i still have a soft spot for kitties. and celbirb doesn't flow as well as celcat does, doesn't it?

You seem to focus an awful lot on how words 'flow'. Why's that?

etymology is pretty interesting! and i always want that when i write something down, the reader must be able to rattle it off smoothly and not stutter because of my clunky phrasing. tis embarrasing as an author when you stumble over your own sentences! and i don't want my readers to suffer the same pains as i have just because i've sacrificed readability for sounding fancy or seeming more intelligible than i actually am.

What is your favorite word, then? You seem like a well-read someone.

hah! i'm not well-read by any means. simply consuming words at a rapid-fire pace does not make one well-read, and i haven't read nearly enough classical literature to think of myself as such. i haven't even read Pride and Prejudice yet, sooo... i don't qualify! my favorite word also isn't in english. english is three dozen languages in a trenchcoat pretending to be respectable anyways, and every english word that i have loved has always had a better word that it had been derived from. check it out in the 'favorites' column to the side!
